Okay I will admit when I was a kid I was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan. My little brother was a super fan. He even told anyone and everyone that would listen to him that when he grew up he was going to have a monster truck that was decorated like a TMNT. When I got the invite to come to the Nickelodeon Suites Resort to experience their Summer of Shell kick off I was so excited. So last week we packed up the family and headed to Orlando.
Nickelodeon Resort Suites
Upon check in we went to check out out suite. We stayed in the Spongebob 2 Bedroom suite you see above. The suites at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort are very spacious. We were surprised to see that the girls room had single beds instead of bunk beds but it was a wonderful surprise. The reason being that they were arguing about who was going to get the top bunk before we got there so problem solved. (When you make your reservation you can specify whether you would like bunk beds or singles for the kids room.) I have to say that the beds are so comfortable. I slept so well. It made me realize how much I really need to buy a new mattress LOL.
We were all pleasantly surprised by what greeted us when we got to our suite. The girls loved the gift box from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Mommy and Daddy loved the wine! The fruit and cheese plate was immediately seized and devoured by the girls! The Nickelodeon Suites Resort really knows how to kick off a media event in the right way for sure!
When we first got to the resort the pools were closed because of a thunderstorm that had rolled through the area. It wasn’t too long though before they were reopened. The view of the top two pictures above are from our balcony in front of our suite. We had a great view of the pool area which as a parent I loved. At about 8:30pm every night the Nickelodeon Suites Resort has a movie by the Lagoon Pool. The night we were there they showed the Spongebob movie. Both the girls by this time had gotten out of the pool and had showers BUT because of where our room was they took 2 chairs outside and watched the movie from the balcony. You can also watch the movie on the pool deck as well.
SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom Breakfast
The next morning we attended the SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom Breakfast. Talk about fun! My girls had a blast and the food is amazing. One of my favorite breakfast dishes is Eggs Benedict (pictured above in the lower right corner). It isn’t something I get to have a lot and most places don’t have it on the menu. Nickelodeon Suites Resort does. I highly recommend you go and try it on your next visit. My girls loved the SpongeBob shaped waffles. They are the perfect size for little ones to pick up and dip. Throughout the breakfast each of the SpongeBob characters come around to visit and take pictures. There are a few different character dining options included Breakfast or Dinner with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Personally, I prefer doing the breakfast option not only because it is cheaper but because it is a great way to start the day. Pulling the kids out of the pool for dinner is much harder to do…trust me! 🙂
Summer of Shell
To kick off the new Summer of Shell at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort this past weekend, they had Retro Weekend with the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle voice cast. To say I was overly excited would be an understatement. Above pictured is Rob Paulsen (Raphael), Townsend Coleman (Michelangelo), Me & Emma, Barry Gordon (Donatello), and last but certainly not least Cam Clarke (Leonardo). These guys are amazing seriously. They each have phenomenal bodies of work that they have done that includes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but so many more. Rob Paulsen has done voice work for The Tick, Pinky and the Brain, Dexter’s Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, The Fairy Odd Parents, along with many many more and he is currently playing Donatello in the new TMNT Series. Townsend Coleman has done voice work for The Tick, Pinky and the Brain, Transformers, along with more and is currently playing the 80’s Michelangelo in the current TMNT Series. Barry Gordon, who was the longest running president of the Screen Actors Guild, has been seen in front of the camera in shows like NYPD Blue, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Brothers & Sisters. He currently plays the 80’s Donatello in the new TMNT Series. Cam Clark is probably who my daughter Emma was the most excited to meet. The reason for this is because he does the voices of Heath Burns, Hoodude Voodoo and a few other on Monster High, which she loves. Cam’s voice work resume is beyond amazing. I would wager to bet you have seen something he has been in. He is also currently playing the 80’s Leonardo in the new TMNT Series. I was so honored to have met and chatted with these amazing men. They are truly American Icons who have impacted generations of lives with their work.
The Summer of Shell runs through September 1st at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando. To add to the Summer of Shell fun they have even updated some of the suites to now be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Themed! While you can’t currently reserve these suites on the website you can call and request for the upgrade on your reservation.
While you are there don’t forget to stop in the gift shop located in the Mall. They have new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle merchandise including vintage designs that are perfect for every TMNT fan. From action figures to bags and hats you will surely find the perfect gift.
Mom & Dads if you are like me and need a pick me up in the middle of the day while the kids are still roaring to go, you can stop in the Starbucks in the Mall and get a caffeine fix. They also have Subway and Antonio’s Pizzeria for dining options which are perfect if you don’t want to have to drive anywhere.
All in All our family had a fabulous time and we would highly recommend the Nickelodeon Suites Hotel for your family to visit. For more information or to place a reservation go to the Nickelodeon Suites Website.
