National Popcorn Day: 9 Tasty Twists on a Classic Treat

National Popcorn Day 9 Tasty Twists on a Classic Treat

Through 2017 you will notice that I will be sharing loads of recipe roundups focusing on special days. Today’s roundup is all about Popcorn. Did you know that today is National Popcorn Day??? Popcorn has been around for THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of years. It wasn’t until the invention of the popcorn maker back in the 1890’s that it grew in popularity. And in 1981 when the microwave popcorn bag was invented it skyrocketed in sales. I actually remember when those came out before that we made jiffy pop. 🙂

In this weeks roundup I have found 9 tasty twists on the classic treat that you will want to give a try.

Celebrate National Popcorn Day

popcorn-1The first recipe you see on the left is a scrumptious recipe perfect for those that love Reese Cups. They are Peanut Butter Caramel Bars by  Living Sweet Moments. I can tell you my husband is begging me to make these.

In the center is a sweet twist called Chia Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn by Little Family Adventures. This recipe uses coconut oil and Chia which in my book makes this recipe super healthy..right? 🙂

The last recipe in this group is a twist on not just 1 but 2 classics. Here we have M&M’S Popcorn Brownies by Thrifty Jinxy.  Now I don’t know about you but I this recipe has me at brownie.

popcorn-2In this group the first recipe is perfect for the fall or for any party really. Not to mention I’ve always wanted to make these. Here we have M&Ms Popcorn Balls by Sugar Spice and Family Life. I bet you can add a bunch of different things to this recipe to personalize it.

The recipe in the middle is especially for those that like to spice things up. It is Sriracha Honey Popcorn by Sidewalk Shoes. I personally am not a fan of Sriracha after I accidentally put a handful of Sriracha peanuts in the my mouth and thought I would die. LOL However I know plenty of people that LOVE it.

Lastly in this group we have a recipe perfect for Valentine’s Day. Full of love and pink you have to try Valentine’s Popcorn by Simply Being Mommy. You can make these and send in treat bags with your little ones for a class party.

This last group of recipes is about chocolate and another twist. Unless you are allergic, in which case I am so sorry, you will love these recipes. First up on the left is Sweet and Salty Hot Chocolate Popcorn by Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom. My youngest loves this recipe.

In the middle is where you will find the twist on another classic. I haven’t tried it yet but I plan to. Here is Peanut Butter & Jelly Popcorn by Home Cooking Memories. Yes you read that right it is a twist with Peanut Butter & Jelly. It sounds so good.

Lastly we have another chocolate twist perfect for Valentine’s Day. Here is Pink Popcorn by Cutefetti. Using white chocolate has me hooked because it is my favorite.

I hope you enjoy this round up and give these recipes a try.
