As parents we spend the majority of our time taking care of the family and dealing with all the obligations that go with running a house. This doesn’t however, leave much time or energy to nurture the relationship that started it all. Pair that with the lack of money to afford a big vacation and you can see why divorce is on the rise. Well fear not, there is a solution. Instead of taking a vacation, take a Staycation! Find a sitter for the night and just get away to a local hotel in your area. Which is exactly what my husband and I just did this weekend when we stayed at the Hotel Indigo in St. Petersburg, FL.
Hotel Indigo: a St. Petersburg, FL Treasure
One of the first things you notice when you arrive at the Hotel Indigo is the great relaxing atmosphere that starts from the minute you step on the porch. I loved the color theme that runs through out the entire hotel. The lime green and magenta colors go so well together. You can’t help but feel happy when you are there.
Aside from the colors in the lobby, the other thing you will notice is the art collection on the wall. One of the unique features of all Hotel Indigo locations is their local art collection. Each location chooses local artist work to display in the hotel lobby. They add a new artist every year through an art party that allows invited guests to vote on the piece that will be added to the hotels permanent collection.
This years featured artist is Andrew Vernon. He is a local artist from the Tampa Bay area and 2nd generation photographer. His work is currently on display at the Hotel Indigo in St. Petersburg and this past weekend was the event to choose the photograph for the permanent collection. My husband and I had quite a few favorites. It was such a pleasure to meet Andrew and discuss his photography. Being new to the area, I loved his artistic perspective.
Hotel Indigo Rooms: Tranquil Dreams
As you can see the color palate continues in the rooms. I personally love love love the colors. My favorite color is purple and the magenta is such a lovely shade of purple. I loved the comforter so much I really need to ask them where I can get one. The rooms also came with a beautiful desk that faces an accent wall which has a stunning shell picture on it. Of course the room also comes with a very nice flat screen television.
I have to tell you that I love the bed. Our room came with a king size bed. We have never had a king size bed in all of our 15 years of marriage, we have a queen. I seriously could get used to sleeping on a king size bed. My husband even said he loved being able to spread out without disturbing me when I was sleeping. Now as parents, I am sure you have had like us, you fair share of bedtime guests that like to stop by in the middle of the night when they can’t sleep or are woken by those awesome storms. This was the first time in a LONG while that we didn’t have to worry about that and it was fantastic.
Above is the shower that was in our room. Now the bathroom itself was a little smaller than some hotels I have stayed in but it was none the less just as nice. In fact I think it is the little things that make it better than most. For example, I loved the wooden bench inside the shower. As a women who is tall, I need something to put my foot on when I shave my legs and most places, unless they have full bathtubs, don’t have anything to do this. Again, I also loved that the color theme continued into the bathroom.
Some of the little things I loved most about the room were the special extras. I appreciate the fact that they have a USB plug for those of us that forget our phone charger plugs. I love the full size ironing board. As someone who has traveled a lot in the last year I have not stayed in a hotel with a full size ironing board. It makes ironing so much easier in my opinion. And lastly the bathroom contained Makeup Remover Wipes. How awesome is that?? I was sooo excited about this little extra because I forgot mine. Again, I have never seen these in a hotel room before. It is the little things that really bring the most joy and bring you back to stay again.
I couldn’t give you my review without mentioning the amazing amenities of the Hotel Indigo in St. Petersburg, FL. The hotel has a very lovely “HEATED” pool and hot tub. Although I didn’t get to try them out fully, I did put my feet in them both and was beyond sad that we had to head back home. They also have a great little office area with separate computer stations and a printer. Great for those business professionals who travel. If you have your own laptop or device they have free wifi as well.
All in all we had an amazing time at the Hotel Indigo. It was so beautiful and peaceful. The staff was beyond charming and helpful. It is centrally located and right down the street from amazing eateries and event locations. Hotel Indigo truly is a hidden gem of downtown St. Petersburg and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking to stay in the area.
Before you leave this amazing place I love that they remind you to take a deep breath, smile and be careful. This is so important and taking time to spend with your spouse is also very important. When you nurture your relationship and take time for yourself it not only calms and replenishes your soul it helps you continue …. Making It All Work!
