Meal planning is becoming a hotter and hotter topic these days with life being so busy for many and many taking on a new way of eating that might require a meal planner to help keep things all organized and figured out.
A meal planner can be a great help for everyone in the household. Use on, or a couple depending on how many mouths you feed and what food preferences each person has. Or just use one, and make it a meal planner that fits everyone in the households likes.
Weekly Meal Planner
There are many ways one can figure out or do a weekly meal planner, but I thought I would share one I found online and how I decided to DIY it for my family. Anyone can do this DIY weekly meal planner.
Once you do this fun DIY weekly meal planner project, the sticking with the meal plan is up to you and all those in your family. Maybe make it fun and set up some rules and maybe even prizes at the end of each week for all who stick with it.
DIY Weekly Meal Planner
Making your DIY weekly meal planner can be fun. There are a ton of templates to choose from at Creative Market. I just love to get creative and they have the best options for anyone into crafting or DIY projects.
Find the exact printable meal planner that suits what you want, and print it out.
So here is what you will need to make this handy-dandy reusable meal planner. You need an old frame ( I purchased one for a dollar at Goodwill). The printed weekly meal planner. ( I sized mine down about 20 percent so that it would fit in the frame). And you will need either an exacto knife or scissors.
Carefully place the glass from the inside of the frame over your meal planner. Make sure you take into account how much of the glass is covered by the frame so that the whole meal plan is view-able.
Now very carefully using an exacto knife, and while using the other hand to hold down the glass, trace the glass onto the paper. Make a second pass to make sure you cut all the way through. Another method would be to trace the glass with a pencil and then cut it out with scissors. Then once you are finished it should look like the picture on the right.
Now all you have to do is place it in the frame with the glass. You now have a reusable weekly meal planner. You can use any dry erase markers you would like on the glass. Then cleanly wipe it off. Simple and Easy.
Weekly Meal Planner Shopping
Once your meal planner is done, the next thing you need to do is fill it in and then head to the grocery store to get your food for the week. This can also be something that can be made fun by letting everyone join in the planning and shopping.
Giving each person a day of the week or a couple days depending on how big your family is, to decide what the meal will be that day. Or doing the fun things like meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wild Wednesday, etc. Let your imagination run wild!
You could make up more than one weekly meal planner at a time so you can be ahead of the game each week.
